Ampacimon: a web application to manage a sensor fleet

Ampacimon develops monitoring solutions for power grids, including sensors that estimate the capacity of high-voltage lines in real time. To follow and manage its sensor fleet, Ampacimon relied on Yelido to develop the web interface of its management application, M.U.I.

Context

Ampacimon, based in the Liège region, develops monitoring solutions for power grids, including Dynamic Line Rating: sensors installed on high-voltage lines estimate the transmission capacity of each line in real time. These sensors equip the networks of grid operators in Europe and the United States.

With a growing fleet of sensors, Ampacimon’s teams needed a single tool to follow the status, connections and firmware version of each sensor.

Objectives

  • Give a real-time overview of the whole sensor fleet.
  • Find each sensor quickly: module type, equipped line, last activity, status.
  • Follow the sensors’ communication sessions.
  • Manage firmware updates from the application.

Solution developed by Yelido

Yelido developed the web interface of M.U.I, the sensor fleet management application, working with Ampacimon’s developers in charge of the back end.

The application offers a real-time dashboard (connection status, firmware versions, sensor learning state), a detailed sensor list, session history and update management.

In 2024, Yelido also migrated Ampacimon’s HMI ADR application from AngularJS to Angular, to keep it on a supported technology.

Benefits

  • A single interface to supervise every deployed sensor.
  • Sensors in error or disconnected are visible immediately.
  • Firmware updates are managed from the application.
  • Applications kept on current technologies.
