Volt-R – A SaaS platform for industrial battery sizing
From calculation engine to SaaS product
Volt-R had leading expertise in battery sizing but needed a web product to roll it out at scale. Yelido designed and developed the platform end to end, from the data model to the user interface.
The platform simulates, compares and optimizes energy storage scenarios while taking into account real consumption profiles, the tariffs of the Belgian grid operators and Belpex market prices.
The estimators’ work is structured along a clear hierarchy that makes it possible to test many scenarios and manage many client files without ever losing track, within a secure multi-organization environment.
Energy simulation and decision support
At the heart of the platform, each scenario is simulated in 15-minute steps over a full year, more than 35,000 data points, to precisely visualize energy flows and the impact of a battery on the bill and on self-consumption.
Estimators rely on a battery catalog (power, capacity, cost, payback period) and on interactive charts to compare scenarios and identify the most profitable solution. Fine-grained role management (administrator, estimator, reader) gives sales teams and management immediate access to the results, in both French and Dutch.
The result: decision support that turns an expert calculation into a clear, costed commercial proposal, ready to present to the client in just a few minutes.
Reliability, innovation and a controlled budget
The platform is hosted in the cloud and built to last: it relies on modern, proven technologies and evolves continuously without ever compromising what already works. Every calculation rule is checked automatically, which guarantees the accuracy of the simulations over time, with each new version.
As Volt-R is a research and innovation project, the needs evolved considerably along the way. To absorb these adaptations without letting the budget slip, our senior team piloted AI-based development assistants (LLMs). Supervised by experienced developers, these tools made it possible to multiply iterations and quickly integrate many adjustments, all while staying within a fixed budget.
The project is run in agile mode, in frequent iterations, with regular demos and reviews involving Volt-R in every product decision.
